Thrift Share - 4 Great Scores All at 1 Store

I found all of my best finds this week at the same Thrift Store on Tuesday.  The first thing I set my eyes on was this vase.  I believe it's a piece from the Rimini Blue Line by Aldo Londi, as the pattern is so similar to the Clock that I found a few months ago.  It's stamped Italy on the bottom, but I'm a little skeptical because there are some odd (un-smooth) areas on the vase.  Not sure if thats Normal???

I then found this set of Heath Pottery plates in the same area.  I actually saw them about 2 weeks ago & left them behind since there wasn't really a full set.  But, since they were still in the store and I was already buying the vase & the fact that they were less than $5 for all of them, I decided to bring them home.

I sat all of these goodies on the counter and headed back to scope out the rest of the store, when behind a tall dresser I spotted the spokes of this clock peeking out.
It's an 8 Day Teak & Metal clock by Lux.  I posted about it over on The Thrift Collective earlier this week, but added a few more pics for my Thrift Share post.  It's in overall good condition with the exception of the back cover being broken.  Thank goodness no one usually sees the back!

Last but not least I found this framed Embroidery piece.  I actually believe this was once a small folding table.  There was still a broken swivel leg attached to the bottom, but I unscrewed the leg & think it would be nicer hanging.

I can't wait to see what everyone else found last week & will be linking up again to ATG's Thrift Share Monday, Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds, and Costal Charms Nifty Thrifty Tuesday so be sure to check out all the other found treasures there...I know I will!

Recent Strolls along the LA River Trail

We are fortunate to live very close to a Wetlands area that runs along the LA River Trail.
We've been going there to walk the dogs more recently, and I just love it.
Not only are we able to let the dogs off the leash to run, were getting some exercise too, and are surrounded by beautiful wildlife & some amazing birds.
Thankfully the girls haven't dove into the water yet, though it came very close last night as they tried to approach an amazing giant Blue Heron that was perched on the bank of the water.
Check out this cool flower I found last night too!  I've never seen a bloom quite like this one before, and thanks to Van over at Thrift Core I learned that it's a Passion Flower!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thrift Share - Fabric & Lace

A quick business trip to Phoenix consumed the early part of my week, and I didn't get out to do hardly any hunting over the weekend...but I did manage to find a few goodies.
SOLD
Who doesn't love a Quaker Lace Tablecloth?  I actually came across two of these at a shop, but the 2nd was in such bad shape I decided to leave it behind.  I opted instead for this beauty.
SOLD
It's not Quaker Lace, but wonderfully made none the less.

It's been a while since I'd picked up any fabrics...but when I found these 1980s Fabric Sample Squares this week (at 50% Off = $1.50 each) I decided to pick up a few sets.  There are some really neat patterns & the samples seemed to come from a Lazarus store.  KOJO still makes high-end fabrics for the Restaurant & Hotel industry.

I've blogged about my never ending Decorating Dilemma in my Den, and just can't seem to find the right pillows.  Since these are pretty large samples (24 X 24), I'm considering mixing and matching a few of the patterns to make some new Pillows for our couch.

As usual, I couldn't resist a few books....
Westwind is huge & signed by both Author Walter Cronkite & Artist Ray Ellis
and I also learned that Lucy likes books too.  I wasn't paying attention when I was photographing some of my new goodies, and guess who started chewing on this Ottoman Empire in Drawings book.
Oh well ~ the pages weren't ruined so maybe I'll commit a mortal book sin & individually frame & sell the prints (I typically wouldn't break a book apart to do this).

I hope everyone is having a lovely Father's Day Weekend & had lots of Thrifty Finds over the week.  Once again, I'm linking up to Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds, and Costal Charms Nifty Thrifty Tuesday so be sure to check out all the other found treasures there...I know I will!

Thrift Share - The Notebook

Two of my favorite things to come across are old Personal Journals and Artist Portfolios.  This wonderful Tree Notebook is a combination of both.  I picked up at a Goodwill last week and have been musing through it's contents ever since.
This Field and Camp Notebook documents the 1929 Hamptons Summer School course of Cora Meadows from Maryland.  During this course, she studies trees, branches and leaves...and draws beautiful examples of many of the species throughout the book.
In addition to her own personal sketches, the book has so many wonderful drawings to help identify different species of trees.
In addition to this wonderful Notebook, I picked up lots of other Home Decor & Linens.  These goodies have already been listed in my shop...and you can check them out on my New This Week post from Friday.

Once again, I'm linking up to Apron Thrift Girl's Thrift Share Monday, Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds, and Costal Charms Nifty Thrifty Tuesday so be sure to check out all the other found treasures there!

Thrift Share - Lucy Goosey

Meet Lucy ~ she's the newest addition to our family & I guess you can say we acquired her in a Thrifty way...from the local shelter of course.    Lucy was ready for a 2nd lease on life, as she was abused in her previous household & had been under quarantine at the pound without any affection for the last 2 months.  She's a 3 year old Golden Retreiver, and she's found a new, safe, & loving forever home!
I found her on a whim when I stopped into the pound this week.  We've been discussing adding a 2nd dog to our family for a few years now & had finally decided the timing was right.
Were so happy to have found her.  She's an amazing dog.  So gentle & sweet and she & Stella have made an instant Sisterly bond.
As you can probably guess, my time this week has been a little more limited making sure Lucy is adjusting, so I didn't get around to photoing this weeks Thrift Store finds yet.  Instead I'm sharing a few of the adjustable Goose Neck style lamps I've found recently at some local Thrift Shops.  I've grown quite fond of these little utilitarian style lamps, and it all started when I found this green goddess...
Industrial Style lamp from 60s or 70s
Then came this Mid-Century style Veneer Desk Lamp
Followed by this cute littler Silver & Black model.
Once again, I'm linking up to Apron Thrift Girl's Thrift Share Monday along with Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds, so be sure to check out all the other found treasures there!

Happy Tails to You...Until we Meet again :-)

Inspirational Outings ~ Korean Friendship Bell

I LOVE living in Southern California!
There is inspiration to be found all around, and so many wonderful sites to see.
How fun are these wooden statues near the trail leading up to the bell?
I have passed by the Korean Friendship Bell in Palos Verdes many times, and always tell myself I need to stop there.  Were usually with family & are doing the coastal drive into LA ~ or possibly to Trump National area for a day hike...so just hadn't added this stop to our list yet.
I work in San Pedro for a few days a month, and just happened to have an hour free for lunch.
I grabbed a sandwich from a nearby Deli, and drove up the hill to eat my meal.  I was sure glad that I did!
Views of the Ocean from the park
The views from the park were amazing, and the pavilion & bell were stunning.
This massive and intricately-decorated bell and pavilion was donated in 1976 to the people of Los Angeles by the people of the Republic of Korea to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. independence, honor veterans of the Korean War, and to consolidate traditional friendship between the two countries. The bell is patterned after the Bronze Bell of King Songdok, which was cast in 771 A.D. and is still on view in South Korea today.
This is some of the wonderful paint & decoration inside the pavillion.
As if on que, a group was practicing martial arts in the park just beside the bell...I should have put down my sandwich and joined them :-)

Many others before me have photographed the Bell, and you can find other amazing images by clicking here!

Cheers ~ Lara
